Alright...so when I started this blog, I knew it was going to be difficult to keep it fresh each week. I look today and it's been MANY weeks since the last update. It's not that new work wasn't being consigned. It's not that I had a terrible ailment that kept me from opening the gallery. It's not that nobody was showing up to buy work...or any other reason like that...what happened was something great!
We were asked to hold a fundraiser exhibition of a corporate collection of work. The deal was this: Verizon Wireless had generously given their corporate art collection to the King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence to sell and raise money for funding their important community work. We were able to provide a space in which to display this collection.
To do this, we had to dismantle our current inventory on the walls, put it in storage and hang 97 new pieces. We had a weekend to sell them all! We set prices at fair or lower market value and opened up the space to the board members of the foundation and their friends. After the first weekend, we decided to lower prices and hold the show open one more week for the public. We are proud to say that we raised just over $45,000. for KCCADV! Talk about feeling good about making sales!
Now that the fundraiser is over, it's been back to ArtREsource's inventory - and all the newly consigned inventory (over 35 pieces!) that arrived during the three weeks of planning and pulling off the fundraiser. I am just now getting to sending out the consignment paperwork to the current owners...and today, will post the new images and update the website.
There are a few of the works from the fundraiser that didn't sell and you will see them added to our inventory - they are noted as work for sale in support of the KCCADV.
Anyway...take a look at the site and come on by to see it all in person!
