More, more, more...how do you like it?

What a great last two weeks! An utterly amazing amount of movement in our consigned inventory - both ways - and a major re-hanging of the walls in the gallery.

Last Saturday was a great day, because I can now say, with 100% confidence (and proof) that people DO read the paper in Seattle. We placed a very small black and white ad in the Seattle Times newspaper and on Saturday three different people came in carrying a cut out copy of our ad! There were also a few "stumble-upons" who saw the sandwich board and buzzed for entry. Seems the word is getting out, one way or another - it's a full 360 from the starting month of business - now most of the time I am NOT alone here! (If you are having trouble finding us, please realize we are on the second level - right above Gallery Frames at Cherry Street on First Ave. Use the intercom to the right of Gallery Frames' front door and I'll buzz you into the stairway)

So, back to the inventory movement last week. I'm so happy to say that we received four Alden Mason (above) paintings - all various styles from different periods - as well as a lovely Guy Anderson woodblock with hand-coloring, two new Joseph Goldberg encaustic paintings, a vintage (and small) Frank Okada painting and some lovely geometric steel sculptures by Richard Goss (exhibited at Foster/White Gallery long ago).

Also of note was a visit from Hoyt DeMers, a premier expert in Salvador Dali's work. Normally we steer clear of Dali's prints, but when we are working with such a pro, there is no doubt to the provenance. Hoyt brought us two wonderful items: Le Tricorne portfolio and a GREAT erotic print of some lovely vaginas - ah, Dali could be SO good!

The portfolio consists of 20 unframed color woodblock etchings (at left) and the full French translation of Pedro Antonio de Alarcón y Ariza’s Spanish original El Sombrero de Tres Picos. The images are signature Dali with butterflies, costumed women, religious figures, gaunt animals, ants and much more. The portfolio is in the original red slip cover case and it is from the rare unfolded edition.

The sexy print is a well-drafted image of a vagina with the finest etched lines I've seen in a long time. The pubic hair looks so soft and real - almost a medical illustration realism to it - yet surrounding it are more, smaller vaginas and a strange landscape. It's also a rare one. I decided to place it in the bathroom for now, in case someone might be easily offended at such a lovely site!

The works listed above are only a few of the new works on the walls - I hope you come by and take a look.
In this week will be two Gaylen Hansen works - a large canvas and a mid-sized charcoal drawing, both with the Kernal in action. I hope to have these in and images posted on the website by tomorrow.

Back to work adding all these items to the database and making their walltags...
